The Two-Tier Selection Model

World Best 500 selection actually operates on two distinct tiers. Understanding this design helps readers interpret how the ranking is constructed.

01

International Giants Tier

Automatically included based on public financial reports, public records, and third-party data, this tier covers globally recognized companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Toyota, Samsung, and Saudi Aramco, along with internationally influential business leaders such as Tim Cook, Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, and Morris Chang. This tier requires no participation from the company or individual; the editorial committee determines placement independently based on public information, providing the ranking's credibility foundation.

02

Active Participation Tier

Open to companies from the Chinese-speaking world, emerging-market companies, and companies introduced through partners, as well as CEOs, founders, and industry leaders from the Chinese-speaking business world. This tier accepts nominations, self-nominations, and third-party recommendations; those selected receive an official badge and maintain ongoing communication with our editorial desk, giving the ranking its practical commercial participation value.

No. The methodology applies identical scoring criteria across all regions and industries; observed concentration in certain sectors reflects underlying market data, not editorial weighting.
